Treat Yourself To A Wood Burning Stove For The Winter

Tuesday, October 24th 2017 10:54pm

Hello and welcome to our blog here at Maydown Fireplaces, the No 1 fireplace centre in Northern Ireland. We thought now the nights are drawing in, with the clocks going back next weekend, that this may be the time to treat yourself to a warm, cosy wood burning stove. As we have mentioned before wood burning, or multi fuel stoves, have become extremely popular over the last few years for a number of reasons.

Stoves Economical To Run

Economical Wood Burning Stoves

Once you have a wood burning stove installed they can be very economical to run, you certainly won`t be needing to turn your central heating on a great deal, and they give off a lovely all encompassing heat that can keep your house warm all day and night.

If you are changing from a gas fire to a wood burning stove you may find that you need new flue liners fitted which is the case most of the time. A stove will perform a great deal more efficiently with the correct width of chimney liner for its particular requirements so it is well worth getting the right one fitted. A properly fitted flue liner will stop carbon monoxide leaking into a property and so this is really a no-brainer.

Get Your Flue Cleaned Regularly

You should also have your flue cleaned at least once a year as any blockages in the flue will cause issues with your stove. Also if you had a fire at your house your insurance provider may void your claim if they found that you have not had your flue cleaned over the past 12 months.

Most people who change to a wood burning stove would not contemplate having anything else once they have it installed. They look great, they give off plenty of heat and they can be very economical to run. A multi fuel stove can run off a number of fuels, or a combination of a few, including wood, coal and peat etc.
